Åpent møte med den palestinske menneskerettighetsaktivisten Mohammad Othman

Torsdag 21. juni klokka 18:00 inviterer Palestinerleiren, Antirasistisk Senter og støttespillere av Palestinerleiren til åpent møte med den palestinske menneskerettighetsaktivisten Mohammad Othman fra det okkuperte Vestbredden. Othman er fra landsbyen Jayyous i den utsatte Qalqiliya-regionen, og er kjent for sin innsats i den ikke-voldelige palestinske motstandsbevegelsen, blant annet fra organisasjonen Stop the Wall og BDS-bevegelsen (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions). I 2009 ble han arrestert av israelske myndigheter på vei hjem fra et besøk I Norge og satt fengslet i over hundre dager i “administrative detention” uten lov og dom.

Othman vil gi en oppdatering om den humanitære og menneskerettslige situasjonen på Vestbredden med spesielt fokus på den fortsatte utbyggingen av muren og bosettingene. Videre vil han gi et kritisk overblikk over norske myndigheters forhold til Vestbredden og diskutere asylavslagsgrunner opp mot den faktiske menneskerettighetssituasjonen. Han vil fortelle om hva det å bli deportert til Vestbredden innebærer i praksis, noe som er aktuelt for mange flyktninger fra Vestbredden i Norge i dag, og en del av gutta fra Palestinerleiren.

Palestinerleiren vil også holde et innlegg om deres situasjon i Norge, avslagsgrunner og mangel på rettigheter.

Møtet vil være åpent for innspill og spørsmål fra salen.

The Palestinian Camp in Oslo, The Norwegian Centre against Racism and supporters of the Palestinian Camp in Oslo invite you to an open meeting on the 21st of June with the Palestinian human rights activist Mohammad Othman. Othman is from the small village of Jayyous in the imperiled region of Qalqiliya in the occupied Westbank and is known for his struggles against the occupation as a part of the non-violent movement trough organisations like Stop the Wall and the BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions). In 2009 he was arrested by the Israeli authorities on his return from a visit to Norway and was kept in administrative detention, without a sentence, for more than a hundred days.

Othman will give an update on the human rights and humanitarian situation on the Westbank, particularly the continued expansion of the wall and the settlements. Additionally, he will give a critical overview of the Norwegian governments connection to the Westbank and discus reasons for rejection on asylum applications in relation to the actual human rights situation on the ground. He will talk about what deportation to the Westbank actually encompasses, something that is an actual risk for many refugees from the Westbank in Norway today, and several of the guys from the Palestina Camp.

The Palestina camp will also hold a presentation on their situation in Norway, their rejections for asylum and lack of rights.
