Tromsø internasjonale filmfestival inviterer deg til en støttevisning til Gaza og palestinske filmskapere, i samarbeid med Palestine Film Institute, Palestinakomiteen, Nordisk ungdom film festival, Tvibit, Tromsø World Festival, Nordlysfestivalen, Rakettnatt, Bukta Tromsø Open Air Festival, Arctic Pride, Backbeat, Rådstua Teaterhus, Insomnia Festival, Riddu Riđđu, Aurora Kino Fokus, Internasjonalt Seminar, Tromsø Filmklubb og Perspektivet Museum.
Vi vil vise AMBULANCE, Mohamed Jabalys første spillefilm, en dokumentar han filmet under krigen i Gaza i 2014. Jabalys nye spillefilm, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, er åpningsfilmen på årets TIFF. Visningen vil bli innledet av Palestinakomiteen og filmskaperen selv.
AMBULANCE (2016) er en rå førstepersonsberetning om krigen i Gaza i 2014. Mohamed Jabaly, en ung filmskaper, blir med i et ambulansecrew ledet av kaptein Abu Marzouq mens de forsøker å redde skadde midt i bombingen og ruinene.
Alle inntektene fra billettsalget vil gå til det nye hurtigrespondfondet opprettet av Palestine Film Institute, og vil komme uavhengige palestinske filmskapere til gode for å produsere nye filmer. Dette er desto viktigere i disse tider hvor polariserende fortellinger i massemediene har en tendens til feilaktig eller ufullstendig å fremstille situasjonen i Palestina og Gaza. Ved å støtte dette fondet oppmuntrer vi til fortellinger som kommer direkte fra Palestina for å nå et bredere publikum over hele verden.
Billettprisen er en glidende skala fra 50 kr til 3000 kr, avhengig av hvor mye du velger å donere.
Tromsø International Film Festival invites you to a Support screening to Gaza and Palestinian filmmakers, in collaboration with the Palestine Film Institute, the Palestinakomiteen / Committee for Palestine, Nordic Youth Film Festival, Tvibit, Tromsø World Festival, The Northern Lights Festival, Rakettnatt, Bukta Tromsø Open Air Festival, Arctic Pride, Backbeat, Rådstua Teaterhus, Insomnia Festival, Riddu Riđđu, Aurora Kino Fokus, Internasjonalt Seminar, Tromsø Filmklubb and Perspektivet Museum.
The event will start at 15:00 at Driv on Sunday 14th January.
We will screen AMBULANCE, Mohamed Jabaly’s first feature film, a documentary he filmed during the war in Gaza in 2014. Jabaly’s new feature film, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, is the opening film at this year’s TIFF.
The film screening will be preceded by an introduction from the Palestine Committee and from the filmmaker.
AMBULANCE (2016) is a raw first-person account of the 2014 war in Gaza. Mohamed Jabaly, a young filmmaker, joins an ambulance crew led by captain Abu Marzouq as they try to rescue casualties in the midst the bombings and rubbles.
All ticket proceeds will go to the new rapid-response fund set up by the Palestine Film Institute, and will benefit independent Palestinian filmmakers to produce new films. This is all the more important in these times when polarizing narratives in the mass media tend to wrongly or incompletely portray the situation in Palestine and Gaza. By supporting this fund, we encourage storytelling coming directly from Palestine to reach a wider audience across the world.
The ticket price is a sliding scale from 50 kr to 3000 kr, depending on how much you choose to donate.
