Dobbel utstillingsåpning
Fra Palestina til Bjørvika: Nær Qalandiya-kontrollpunktet på den okkuperte Vestbredden, parkert med ryggen mot en mur av tung politisk graffiti, sitter en ung mann i bilen sin og tar seg en sigg. En sau, årets offerlam for Eid, fyller hele passasjersetet.
Velkommen til sesongstart på Fotografihuset, med dobbel utstillingsåpning og seminar når Tanya Habjouqa – prisbelønt fotograf, journalist og antropolog – kommer til Oslo. Med sitt unike blikk har hun kartlagt forholdene som har definert palestinske liv under okkupasjonen og frem til vannskillet den 7.oktober, da Gaza ble hermetisk lukket for journalister utenfra.
Utstillingen – «Birds Unaccustomed to Gravity» – inkluderer også bilder tatt på Vestbredden i november 2023. Prosjektet er et samarbeid med Preus Museum.
Samtidig vil det beste fra Årets bilde 2023 vises i prosjektrommet, Pressefotografenes Klubbs prestisjetunge årlige premiering av det ypperste innen norsk foto- og videojournalistikk.

From Palestine to Bjørvika: Near the Qalandiya checkpoint on the Occupied West Bank, parked against a wall laden with heavy political graffiti, a young man smokes a cigarette in his car. A sheep, this year’s sacrificial lamb for Eid, fills the entire passenger seat.
Welcome to the opening of Fotografihuset’s 2024 programme, with a double exhibition opening and seminar, when Tanya Habjouqa – award-winning photographer, journalist and anthropologist – comes to Oslo. With her unique perspective, Habjouqa has mapped the boundaries that have defined Palestinian life during the occupation and up until the watershed on 7 October, when Gaza was hermetically closed to international journalists.
The exhibition – «Birds Unaccustomed to Gravity» – also includes photos taken on the Occupied West Bank in November 2023.
The exhibition is a collaboration with Preus Museum.
At the same time, the best from Årets Bilde / Picture of the Year 2023, the Press Photographers’ Club’s prestigious annual rewarding of the best in Norwegian photo and video journalism, will be screened in the Project Space.
